Our Story
About The Rec Book
Documenting the historic growth of the legal cannabis industry — one state, one strain, one story at a time.
Why We Exist
Cannabis Education for Everyone
The Rec Book was born out of a simple belief: that as cannabis becomes legal across America, people deserve clear, honest, and approachable education about what they're consuming.
We're not a dispensary. We're not a brand. We're a reference — built for curious consumers, first-timers, and seasoned enthusiasts who want to understand the plant, the laws, and the culture around it.
From terpene profiles to state-by-state possession limits, from edible dosing guides to the history of legalization, The Rec Book is your go-to resource for navigating the new legal landscape.
Education First
We break down complex topics — cannabinoids, terpenes, consumption methods — into clear, accessible language anyone can understand.
Legally Informed
Cannabis law changes fast. We track every recreational state, possession limit, and regulatory update so you stay informed and compliant.
Community Rooted
Our directory connects consumers to licensed dispensaries, producers, and lounges across all 25+ recreational states and D.C.
Plant Positive
We celebrate the plant with respect — honoring its history, its science, and the communities that fought to make legal access a reality.
The Publication
More Than a Website
The Rec Book started as a printed guide — a coffee-table companion for the modern cannabis consumer. The digital platform grew from that same mission: to be the most trusted, beautifully designed cannabis reference in the country.
